Residents enjoy walking for wellness
Aah, a spot of sunshine and stories shared! There is nothing better than a stroll around the garden with friends.
Alexandra Gardens residents enjoy their twice-weekly walks around the established gardens, where they enjoy the fresh air while admiring the flowerbeds and veggie patches. The group likes to reminisce particularly about gardens they used to nurture or visit.
For added fun, and extra steps, they also enjoy the occasional scavenger hunt where they search for items hidden throughout the grounds.
Residents, Bev and Janette, love getting out in the sunshine. Janette was a keen gardener and enjoys reminiscing about her own garden, while the two of them take clippings to replant in the courtyard for others to enjoy.
“Staying fit and mobile is important to me”, says Bev, who has always walked everywhere. “There is nothing quite like donning my hat, breathing in fresh air and a walk and talk with my friends.”
At Alexandra Gardens, we recognise the multiple benefits that exercise can bring to a resident’s physical and emotional wellbeing and our team plans and promotes regular exercise as well as activities that include or encourage movement.
“It’s all about retaining mobility and building strength to enhance and enrich residents’ lives, while fostering vitality and wellbeing,” says Sandra.
Enjoying fresh air, exercise and great conversations.
