Meet Personal Care Worker, Bella
Currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing, Bella has completed dementia training and hopes to have a positive impact on those living at Alexandra Gardens. She is part of a dedicated team who, through their day-to-day activities and interactions, provide important care, compassion and connection, ensuring residents are safe and enabling them to live their best life.
What is the favourite part of your day?
In the afternoons, when most residents are settled and comfortable, I enjoy sitting down and connecting with the many individuals who call Alexandra Gardens home. They have so many lived experiences and it’s great to spend time listening to their stories.
How do you create a positive environment?
As well as tending to each resident’s care needs, I support the daily activities within the community such as arts and crafts, concerts and pet therapy as well as helping them enjoy time in the garden. Once a month, I also take residents living in our Memory Support Household on an outing.
What do you see as the impact of your role?
I like to be there for the residents for anything they need. It’s important to listen and show kindness.
How does technology help you deliver better care?
CareKeeper holds all the updated information about each resident’s care needs and it alerts us when something has changed. It also provides us with their story, their lifestyle preferences and how they like to spend their day. This technology enables us to build better connections with residents and optimise their wellbeing.
At Alexandra Gardens, residents are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on getting to know and understand individual residents, and supporting them to maintain their interests, routines and connections to the people and places they love. We use innovation to help us deliver personalised, meaningful care.
