From ballet to bikes – residents rediscover their passions
Residents have been reconnecting with past interests and exploring new ones with some fabulous recent events. Whether it’s the soft allure of graceful dance or the roar of motorcycle engines that peaks one’s interest, there has been something for everyone.
At Yaralla Place, around 20 residents recently took part in Ballet Serene, a seated ballet program developed and delivered by artists from the Queensland Ballet. The program combines artistry, movement and music that mirror the structure of a traditional ballet class but adapted to suit all levels.
The dance sequences and beautiful music sparked happy memories for many. Resident, Coral, was delighted at the chance to partake. “I took ballet classes as a little girl and loved dressing up in the costumes and being on stage,” she said. “The class brought back so many lovely memories that I hadn’t thought of in a very long time.”
At Groundwater Lodge, it was a different tune with residents enjoying a rumbling visit from members of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club. They arrived in style and invited residents to inspect their shiny bikes up close while they discussed the mechanics and shared stories of road trips, travels and adventures.
Both communities love supporting residents to continue to pursue hobbies, explore new interests or find meaning and fulfilment through the various activities on offer. “Our lifestyle calendars always have something new and exciting to look forward to,” said Celin, Manager, Groundwater Lodge.
