Delicious and nourishing meals on the menu
When it comes to mealtimes, there’s plenty of choice for PresCare Maryborough residents.
Catering Manager, James, and the team have been extra busy preparing delicious meals using this season’s freshest produce. And, in the household dining rooms, residents gather to enjoy conversation and their favourites such as roasts, lamb chops, silverside and garlic prawns.
Menus are co-designed with plenty of input from residents and reviewed by a dietitian. James says they regularly seek feedback from residents and adapt the menu to meet changing preferences. “Residents love the old-fashioned farm-style meals, but also enjoy some more contemporary options. We make sure there are plenty of choices to cater for everyone’s individual needs and tastes,” he says.
James says socialisation at mealtimes is just as important as the nutritious food itself. “We enjoy hosting special events and encourage everyone to participate. It’s always great to see so many enjoying their meals together in the dining rooms.”
“Soon we’ll be celebrating our resident diversity with a special week-long event showcasing foods from China, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, Malta, Canada, South Africa, and, of course, Australia,” he says.
A special ‘menu passport’ poster will show residents where they’ll be ‘travelling’ to each day to enjoy tastes from around the world. At Yaralla Place, staff will be dressing up, bringing foods and staff are invited to a cooking competition.
In addition to their delicious meals, residents at Yaralla Place now have access to a 24-hr snack station. Taking the form of a small café, residents have a cosy spot to gather and enjoy each other’s company over tea, coffee or a snack.
