Bus trips down memory lane
Our regular bus trips are popular with residents from both communities who love an opportunity to get out and about and explore our region.
Yaralla Place residents recently explored Maryborough’s unique connection with PL Travers, creator of Mary Poppins. We visited heritage-listed The Story Bank and soaked up the stories, characters and settings as well as the beautiful building she was born above. The charming interactive displays delighted residents. “It brought back so many memories – it felt magical!” said Irene, while Lorna said, “It made me feel young again!”
Residents from Groundwater Lodge’s Memory Support household are also enjoying regular drives through the town, with familiar streets sparking recognition and conversations about the past.
“We’ve been an integral part of the community for four decades, says Celin, Manager at Groundwater Lodge. “It’s wonderful that we’re able to help residents get out and about exploring and staying connected to the town they’ve called home for many years.”
