Meet dedicated care workers, Kyah and Neil
Working in Aged Care presents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life and, at PresCare Maryborough, our team members pride themselves on providing compassionate, person-centred care to the residents.
Neil, a Personal Care Worker at Groundwater Lodge and Kyah, a Care Service Assistant at Yaralla Place, strive to create a positive environment in their respective communities, supporting residents with their daily care needs and helping them to feel safe, comfortable and as independent as possible.
“I believe the older generation deserves respect, compassion and quality care, and being able to provide that gives me a sense of purpose,” says Neil.
“I love spending time with the residents, having conversations, sharing a laugh, and seeing them smile. These simple moments can make a big difference and remind me why I chose a caring profession.”
Kyah agrees. “I love to be there for the residents and support them in whatever way they need,” she says.

“I enjoy keeping them company when they’re walking outside and offering them encouragement in the regular Lifestyle or Physiotherapy sessions. And, of course, I’m always ready to share a cuppa, a biscuit and a chat if a resident asks.”
Both carers use technology to help them deliver better care too. The CareKeeper app holds all the information about each resident’s care needs and alerts the team when something has changed.
“It is very helpful to have quick access to important information, such as mobility needs and dietary requirements. It also includes other information about each resident, like their life story and interests, that we can use to start a meaningful and interesting conversation,” says Kyah.
“Having up-to-date information and reminders in real time helps me provide timely care,” says Neil. “It supports residents’ wellbeing by ensuring that important care tasks and updates are completed, communicated and followed up appropriately. I appreciate how technology can support good communication, organisation, and continuity of care, meaning we spend less time on paperwork and more time with the residents.”
At PresCare Maryborough, residents are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on getting to know and understand individual residents, and supporting them to maintain their interests, routines and connections to the people and places they love. We use innovation to help us deliver personalised, meaningful care.
